Why am I being asked to enter an IBAN when making an online payment?

Following the introduction of SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area), account numbers and sort codes are being replaced with an IBAN. We have changed our Anytime Internet Banking payment process to reflect this and you will now be asked to enter an IBAN when setting up a new payment online.

You will also now have the option to add a message to the beneficiary for any new payments you set up. This message can be up to 140 characters in length.
