Unpaid Direct Debits will cause your mortgage to fall into excess/arrears, so it's important to make sure we get your payment as soon as possible.

The main reason for your Direct Debit being returned as unpaid is because there were insufficient funds in your bank account on the day your Direct Debit was due, however there are other reasons also. Check the balance in your account for that day and see if funds were available. If that is the case then contact us to make sure that we have the correct details on file or that the Direct Debit is still active.

When a payment is returned as unpaid and your Bank allows, we will automatically try again ten working days later. Providing there will be funds in your account when we call for the payment again, there is no need to make a manual payment.

In the event that you do need to make a manual payment you can Log onto Manage My Mortgage and select the option "Make a payment (Overpayment, missed mortgage payment or manual mortgage payment)“.
