How do I set up Apple Pay on my iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch?

You can start using Apple Pay as soon as you have added your first credit card or debit card to Wallet on your iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch.

Setting up your card

To set up Apple Pay and to add your credit card or debit card to Wallet:

  • For an iPhone 6 and above open Wallet and tap the 'Plus' icon next to Apple Pay in the upper-right corner
  • For an iPad Air 2, iPad Pro and iPad mini 3 and 4 go to 'Settings' > 'Wallet' > 'Apple Pay' > 'Add Credit or Debit Card'
  • For an Apple Watch open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and tap 'Wallet & Apple Pay' > 'Add Credit or Debit Card'

In all cases you have several options:

  • If you have a Ulster Bank credit card or debit card registered with iTunes the details will be retrieved from iTunes when you first add the card, or you can choose to add a new card.
  • If you are adding a new Ulster Bank credit card or debit card you can choose to use the camera on your iPhone or iPad to capture the details on the front of the card. Please check that the camera has captured the details exactly as they appear on your card.
  • Alternatively, you can choose to enter your card details manually.
  • Ulster Bank may need to ask you for more information to complete the identification process. Once you have provided all the required information you will be asked to enter the 3 digit security code from the back of the card, accept the Terms and Conditions, and then tap 'Next'.
  • You will then need to verify your card with Ulster Bank, which you can do at any time after you have added it to Passbook.
  • You will need to have an internet connection throughout to complete all the steps.

Verifying your card

To verify your card:

  • Open Wallet and select the card you want to verify.
  • You can verify the card yourself by using a one-time passcode which Ulster Bank sends to the mobile number you have registered with us, or you can contact us.
  • The passcode will be sent to the mobile number that we have on record. If your number has changed, please contact us to update your records.
  • If for any reason you don't receive your passcode within 15 minutes please try again, or contact us.
  • Enter the code you received by text and tap 'Next'.
  • After your card is verified, tap 'Done'. You are now ready to use Apple Pay.

Once you have registered for Apple Pay a confirmation will be sent to you:

  • If you have registered using a one time passcode you will get a text message.
  • If you have called us to register we will send an email to the address we have on file for you.
  • If we have no email address for you we will confirm your registration by letter.
