Can I use my debit card abroad?
Using a Ulster Bank VISA debit card is an easy and convenient way of paying for goods and services wherever you see the VISA logo.
You can also use your card worldwide to pay for goods and services and withdraw cash, just look out for the VISA logo shown on your card.
Your card is accepted at over 29 million retailers and 1 million cash machines worldwide. You also benefit from purchase protection when using your debit card to pay for goods and services. Charges apply for using your debit card abroad and for certain transactions in the UK.
If you intend to use your personal debit card abroad it is advisable to let us know. Registering your travel plans with us can reduce the likelihood of your debit card transactions being blocked. If you have our Mobile app, it’s easy to let us know you are going to use your debit card abroad. Just log in, choose your account, select ‘Manage my card’ then ‘Going Abroad’. The mobile app lets you view and amend travel plans too!
